The Voice of Your Higher Self

Your Intuition.

Friday, March 28, 2025

Have you ever felt a small nudge, an unexplainable pull, or a quiet whisper within that guides you—but you hesitated, unsure if you should follow it? That, my friend, is your intuition in action.

Often referred to as your inner wisdom or the voice of your higher self, your intuition is a deeply personal guide that offers insights logic and reason can’t always provide.

It's not a mysterious or exclusive gift reserved for a chosen few. It’s within all of us, waiting to be heard and trusted.

It can manifest in many ways. The sudden gut feeling that steers you toward or away from something. The dream that lingers long after you wake, carrying an important meaning you can’t quite grasp but instinctively know matters. The chance encounter or meaningful coincidence that feels too profound to be random. Sometimes, even the song playing at just the right moment, delivering a message that resonates deeply with what’s been on your mind or in your heart.

But if our intuition is so natural and innate, why do so many of us struggle to trust it? Why do we seek answers outside ourselves when so much wisdom lies within?

The problem isn’t you - its modern day living.

In today’s world, we are conditioned to value logic over intuition, to overthink instead of feel, and to look outward for answers rather than within. The constant noise around us—from endless demands and expectations to never-ending notifications—makes it difficult to hear our inner voice. Instead, we find ourselves plugged into fear.

The good news? Your intuition doesn’t go away. It’s always there, patiently waiting for you to tune back in. Reconnecting with it requires intentionality, a willingness to slow down, quiet the noise, listen within and trust the process.

This guide will walk you through five simple practices to tune into your intuition, helping you align with your higher self and find clarity in the noise.

1. Connect With Your Body

Your intuition often communicates through your body before your mind even catches on. That sense of butterflies in your stomach, shivers running down your spine, or the calm washing over you after making the right choice? These aren’t just random sensations. They’re signals from your higher self.

When faced with a decision, pause and close your eyes. Ask yourself, "How does this feel in my body?" A light, expansive feeling often means you’re on the right path, while a sense of heaviness or tightness may signal caution.

Start noticing these cues throughout your day, even with small decisions. Over time, you’ll strengthen the connection between your intuition and your physical awareness.

2. Listen Beyond Logic

Your rational mind speaks in facts and reason, but your intuition communicates subtly through subconscious messages, emotions, and synchronicities. Ever had a song that played at the right moment? Seen repeated numbers or experienced a perfectly timed “coincidence”? These aren’t accidents. These are breadcrumbs from your higher self, leading you toward alignment.

Learn to recognise and reflect on these intuitive moments. Don’t overanalyse them or demand immediate clarity. Trust that they’re happening for a reason—even if the full picture hasn’t revealed itself yet.

3. Create Space for Stillness

We live in an age of constant noise—both external and internal. Yet, intuition often speaks clearest in moments of stillness, in the spaces in between.

Practices like meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, or simply spending quiet time in nature guide us inward. Away from the chaos of daily life, these practices create space for us to simply just be. It is here, within the stillness, that the mental chatter fades and intuitive insights begin to organically rise to surface.

When we slow down and welcome stillness, we come to realise that it isn’t empty at all. It’s alive with possibility, vibrant and full of untapped potential, patiently waiting for us to notice.

What insights might emerge when you pause, breathe, and listen?

(Psst… the answers you seek are already waiting for you—in the quiet.)

4. Deepen Your Connection to Self

Strengthening your intuition is like building a relationship—with yourself. It takes time, patience, and trust.

Start with reflective practices like journaling or asking yourself deep, soul-stirring questions. For example:

  • “Who am I beneath the roles I play and the masks I wear?”
  • “What does my heart truly yearn for when I dream without limits?”

Spiritual tools like oracle cards can also serve as powerful ways to tap into your inner wisdom. The more time and space you commit to self-connection, the clearer your intuitive guidance will become.
When was the last time you truly paused to meet yourself—not the version shaped by roles, expectations, or the outside world, but the real you? When did you last sit in stillness, allowing yourself to reconnect with your innermost self? What truths might reveal themselves if you leaned in and listened? What wisdom has been waiting, quietly and patiently, for the moment you’re ready to hear it?

Maybe that moment isn’t somewhere in the distance. Maybe it’s not tomorrow or someday. Maybe... it’s now.

5. Start Small and Build Trust

Your intuition rarely provides a fully detailed roadmap with all the answers. While it’s natural to desire that level of clarity, we may not always be ready to understand or accept those insights. Additionally, having the entire path laid out could rob us of valuable opportunities to grow, learn, and evolve along the way.

Instead, trusting your intuition is more like stepping into uncharted territory guided by a light that reveals just the next step ahead, not the entire journey.

Start by trusting your intuition with small everyday decisions, like "What feels better—coffee or tea?" or “Should I take a walk now or later?” Notice how your intuition speaks without hesitation.

If you feel prompted to take a different route home, try something new, or reach out to someone who comes to mind, follow those instincts. Each time you act on your gut reaction—even in these small moments—you build trust in your ability to listen and act on the guidance you receive.

Over time, you’ll find this trust carries over into bigger decisions, allowing you to follow your inner wisdom with confidence.

Here’s an example that comes up all the time:

Imagine you are considering a career change. Your current job provides stability, a steady income, and a clear path forward. However, there is a persistent feeling nudging you towards a different direction, perhaps pursuing a passion you have long set aside.

Your logical mind may present countless reasons to stay where you are – the risks, the uncertainty, and the fear of the unknown. But your intuition quietly nudges you in another direction. It points out how energised you feel when imagining this new path, how your heart races with excitement at the idea of exploring new opportunities, and how a sense of dread creeps up each Sunday night at the thought of returning to the office.

Following your intuition in this scenario doesn’t mean abandoning everything overnight. Instead, it could involve taking small intentional steps towards the change, like researching the new field, talking to professionals already in it, becoming a student again, or even starting a side project related to your passion. Each of these actions, although seemingly minor, can reinforce your trust in the intuitive messages you receive and pave the way for more significant changes, decisions and alignment.

Aligning With Your Higher Self

Your intuition is so much more than just a ‘gut feeling.’ It’s the part of you that never forgets who you are, where you came from, and why you’re here. It’s your higher self-guiding you.

Every small nudge you follow, every quiet sign you notice, and every strong feeling you honour deepens your connection to your higher self. This connection, in turn, has the power to expand your life in miraculous and transformational ways.

Learning to trust your intuition isn’t about expecting all the answers right away. It doesn’t work like that. Instead, it’s about trusting the wisdom of the moment (that sense of what feels right) and having faith in a bigger picture, even if it hasn’t fully unfolded yet.

But what if you don’t feel anything?

This is a common question. In moments like these, all you need to do is trust. Trust that your intuition is always present, guiding and supporting you. Trust that life is unfolding in your favour, even if you can’t yet see the full design. Trust that the guidance will come, because it will. Be open to it showing up in unexpected ways, such as signs, insights, symbols, ‘random conversations’, dreams, and so on.

Building this trust also means letting go of the need to understand every “why” or predict every outcome. Instead, it calls for patience, curiosity, and the courage to move forward without having the full map.

Every single time you honour your inner wisdom, you reinforce its guidance and strengthen your bond with your higher self. So why not start small today? Ask yourself a simple question or follow that subtle gut feeling. Over time, these tiny acts of faith will accumulate, raise your vibration, and guide you toward a life that’s deeply aligned with your full potential and soul’s purpose.
